Hi

When someone purchases an oscope and it comes with MI. Is the MI license tied to the scope or to an individual PC? I would need the ability to move the scope from PC to PC without having to buy additional license. How does the licensing work?

If only a software license is purchased, for example, an MI Standard license (US$99.95), then only an activation code will be provided after you register your computer at: www.virtins.com/activate.shtml. The activation code provided can only activate the software on the registered computer. The license is permanent and upgrade in the same license level is free forever. License Re-Activation and Transfer are supported (refer to: www.virtins.com/activate.shtml). Once you own a license, you are eligible to purchase ONE USB hardkey (US$39.95 inclusive of the shipping charge) for the license. This option allows you to use the software simultaneously on two computers, one activated with the softkey (activation code) and the other activated with the hardkey. Unlike the softkey, the USB hardkey can be used on any computer to activate the software.

A VT hardware (hardware manufactured by Virtins Technology) usually comes with a hardware activated Multi-Instrument Standard license. The software will be activated automatically by VT hardware if you connect the hardware to the computer first before the software is launched. In other words, the VT hardware acts as the dongle for the software in this case. You can also purchase a USB hardkey for this hardware activated license. However, the activation code for the license will not be provided.
